This is the fifth installment in the series, featuring Aya Uchida’s Ran!

This is a story of a country where most of the railroad tracks have been lost due to the great abandonment of railroads – Hinomoto.
But there are still a few railroad companies scattered around the country that continue to fight against the great railway abandonment.
One such project, [Gramophone Rail], was launched by a major newspaper to introduce the attractions of the railroads and their lines through the lens of sound.
The main role of finding and introducing sounds is played by “railroads," which are puppets/doll-like modules that usually support the operation and control of the trains running along the route.

The D51 840 Railrood, the pride and joy of the Kawasaki-Yokogawa railroad line, was also asked to participate in the gramophone reel.

He is one of the most popular railroads in Japan, and always acts like a star when he wants to be.
But when he’s not on duty, the simple, sweet, and innocent orchid will follow you, my roadmaster, on your little journey of sound.

The sound of walking through the thick layers of fallen leaves on a lost mountain path. The sound of birds in a wild bird forest.
The sound of a waterfall that you stumbled upon by chance. The sound of o-kirikomi being made in a small restaurant where you stopped to relax after a long day of walking.

The sounds that you and Ran search for, or find, while groping.
I’m sure that the sounds that you and Ran search for or find together will soothe your eardrums and shake your heart in a pleasant way.

A small journey of searching for sounds with Ran, a simple and earnest big star.

A third sector established by carving out part of the main line of the former Imperial Railway. It’s a great way to get to know the people in your area.
D51 840 railrood running as a very ordinary mass-produced machine on a very ordinary regional line, the run was, however, extraordinary – with a look that was described as superbly beautiful.

Although he was a female-form Railrood, his appearance and behavior could only be described as handsome, and one day people gave him the nickname “Prince of Railrood". Ran has always lived up to the expectations of that name, acting with dignity and grace at all times. However, once away from his duties, Lan is more of a clumsy, naive, and pure-hearted Railrood.

There are only three small pleasures for Ran, who, more than any other railrood, has been working and working and working since the moment of rollout and has yet to learn how to play.

Amateur radio, which he learned through his work and came to enjoy as a hobby, and electronics.

Whenever I’m asked to do a sound search, which is a part of the precious time I have with you, Ran doesn’t mind, but he takes it very seriously and carefully.

Recording location
The recording location for this work is the so-called “Usui Pass"–near Yokogawa, Matsuida-cho, Annaka, Gunma.
Yokogawa is also a tourist spot, and there is not a small amount of traffic, so we started the field recording in the early morning, when the sun had not yet risen.
We hope you will enjoy the sounds of nature that we recorded while climbing over chains and through ropes.

Earsplitting
This is the first time I’ve ever seen this kind of music.
The cuteness of Ran is expressed by Aya Uchida in the scene where she holds her ears down and lets them go. I’m sure you’ll agree with me.
We worked backwards to bring out the best of everything we received, and the ear buds that matched the way she breathed gave a soft impression of a young girl, which was a complete change from the stalwart Ran.

The sound of footsteps moving through the deep piles of fallen leaves in the darkness, with no sign of the sun yet to rise, sounded particularly impressive, so I adjusted it so that you can also enjoy it as ASMR. For more information, please visit
The sound of wild birds was adjusted so that it would not interfere with the conversation, and the sound of the waterfall was adjusted so that its power could be used to create an ASMR effect.
In this work, we are particularly conscious of the harmony of ASMR, including the voices. Please enjoy it.
