What is “Kojiki"?
It was established in 712 AD.
It is the oldest existing history book in Japan.

It consists of three volumes (upper, middle and lower).
The upper part is more of a myth than a history.

The gods spoken of there are
The gods spoken of there are a far cry from the all-knowing, all-powerful gods we imagine today.

-God who goes to Hades after his dead wife.
-A god who doesn’t follow his instructions and keeps crying out to see his mother.
-The god who is saddened by his brother’s misbehavior and locks himself away in a cave.

Rather, they are all somewhat human.

The roots of the Japanese people are hidden in such Kojiki.
