Prologue

The season is autumn.

The man had made a reservation at an inn.

The inn was located in the mountains in a secluded countryside town.

The mountains surrounding the village were turning red and asserting their autumnal scenery.

I remembered the woman at the inn saying that the autumn leaves were beautiful.

Spent a few nights at the inn while hunting for autumn leaves.

We had checked in at night, so we had plenty of time.

When I was walking along a mountain path with beautiful autumn leaves, I was approached by an unfamiliar woman.

[Maple]
Are you hunting for autumn leaves by yourself?

The woman smiled serenely and looked leisurely around at the mountains.

The man wondered if she was a resident of the village.

[Maple]
I was just looking for autumn alone and feeling the season. If you have a moment, may I join you?

[Maple]
Phew, thank you. I’ve just been looking for the seasons by myself.

The man has no particular reason to refuse, so he decides to take the woman for a walk in the mountains.

This is the first time I’ve seen it.
